24th MEU Holds Demonstrations During Fleet Week

Helicopters and Marines from the 24th MEU in full battle gear landed in an area of New York City, but it was all part of Fleet Week activities taking place in the city.

The weeklong event showcases the equipment and capabilities of the Marines, Navy and Coast Guard.

Sunday the 24th MEU demonstrated assault deployment procedures for a crowd at a park in Queens.

People could handle weapons, try on body armor and take a seat inside a helicopter.

Fleet week runs through June first. The Navy and Coast Guard are holding similar events in the city.

Several ships are open for tours.
