NEW INFO: One Dead, One Injured In Kinston Crime Spree

Kinston police have released more information on a murder, a shooting and an attempted armed robbery that happened within nine minutes of each other and just several blocks from each other.

The murder happened in front of Rochelle Middle School.

Police say 54-year-old Norris Cobb was found dead on North Rochelle Boulevard Saturday night. The man's body was found laying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest and he died at the scene.

Two minutes earlier another man was found shot near the intersection of Clay and Water Streets. There they found Elliot Anderson with gunshot wound to the head and shoulder. The 41-year-old man was transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say seven minutes before that shooting three people tried to rob a man at gunpoint outside his home on East Caswell Street. The victim told police that one of the robbers was about 15 years old and armed with a silver handgun. No one was injured in the attempted robbery.

The attempted armed robbery and the first shooting happened just two blocks from each other, while the murder took place less than four blocks from the second shooting.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases, and police haven't said yet whether they believe the three gun crimes are related.

It seems as if gossip is a norm. You have someone talking about this story is fake, and others talking about "harsh punishment". I don't condone killing, but when it is a teenager who grew up in an abusive family. Should he actually be sentenced to death or do you give him the ability to be forgiven. Oh, about the person that thought this was fake. It didn't happen on school grounds, it said "in front of a middle school". It was after school hours.

Ths story is obviously made-up and completely fictional. Since there are State AND Federal laws that prohibit the pssession of a firearm on school property, and everyone KNOWS that "gun control" laws actually work, there is NO WAY that someone could be shot on school grounds. Please, WITN, stop publishing these fake, fabricated stories...

This seriously happened. Maybe you should stop having so much "faith" in our so-called system and look around and see what is acually happening out on the streets. These thugs don't care about any type of gun laws, and the majority of crimes are committed with illegal and/or stolen guns. Do your homework a little before saying something is fiction! I know this happened for a fact because it happened to a family member of mine!

Apparently, the concepts of "satire" and "irony" are lost on you... I was trying to make a point, to show just how stupid and useless "gun control" laws are, because criminals don't follow the law. Ever notice how many people get robbed, murdered or raped on school property? Now, how many people get murdered, robbed, or raped at shooting ranges? Why do you think that is? The criminals KNOW that law-abiding citizens on school property will be disarmed victims. You and I agree about the non-existent effect that "gun control" laws have on criminals--but you apparently have such a poor understanding of satire and irony that you can't even see that you actually AGREE with me. Do you even know who Mark Twain or Oscar Wilde were? No wonder NC is becoming such a train wreck...

Poor Kinston. Residents and politicians both pay for lawlessness.

Does anyone remember watching "the green mile" with Tom Hanks? I see nothing wrong with walking the mile like they use to do back in the old days. You get sentenced, go ahead and fry their but like a hamburger or FF's.

Kinston doesn't care to spend money on crime prevention but they took the tax payers money and built a block and a half size fire station. You can thank the good ole boys for that

You are right Lavon, those democrats that ran the city spent a huge sum of tax money for that fire station. Aren't you glad the republicans finally, after 100 years now run this city?

check this out!! armed robbery, if proven?? 1 to 8 year sentence, and could be released early for good behavior. guy shot in the head "attempted murder" i have not seen anyone in the last 5 years convicted of this crime in lenoir county receive over a 10 year sentence, and that's stretching it!! the murder, if proven, they "may" be convicted of "second degree murder", because they did not "know" the man, and it wont be considered "premeditated". at most they will get a 20 year prison sentence. I was looking on NCDOC website and saw a man by the name of donnie coward who had manslaughter and murder on his wrap sheet in lenoir county. they say he was sentenced to many years. he only served around 8. whats wrong with this judicial system. violent crime should equal capitol punishment. the crime is more harsh then the punishment. that's why stuff like this keeps happening!!!! please approve this WITN

Some people wonder why Kinston has such a bad name. Look around! These people have nothing constructive to do with themselves, don't know a dang thing but want to rule all. All i hear is what should happen, and nobody does anything. These people need to know that other places exist other than Kinston. I'm disapointed, and highly disgusted at the ignorant things that take place. Another thing that bothers me is the gangbanging that takes place. Seriously? COME ON, grow some balls, think on your own, and make your own positive choices. :-( Just remember that while you may feel neglected by the one's that brought you here, its the one's that take you in that will take you out at the drop of a dime.

Blame a society and a government that condones and rewards single women for having several children they cannot control without a man in the house. Unfortunately, this has become the norm among certain groups of people and we are suffering the results of this kind of misguided "assistance".
