The Highway Patrol says a teenager is in the hospital and is charged with causing a crash in Chocowinity Friday night that sent the two 13-year-olds she had in the car with her to the hospital as well. Trooper B. Michael says a call went out at 6:21 p.m. about an Oldsmobile and a Dodge truck colliding at the intersection of Frederick and Taylor Roads.

Trooper Michael says both drivers are from Chocowinity. The driver of the car, 16-year-old Megan Jochum, is charged with failure to stop at the stop sign on Frederick Road. Troopers say the truck on Taylor Road crashed into the car. Jochum was airlifted by Eastcare to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Trooper Michael says she had the most severe injuries and was listed in stable condition late Friday night. He says the two 13-year-old passengers were taken to Vidant Beaufort Hospital and are expected to be OK. Troopers say the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital to be checked out but didn't have any major injuries.
