16 Cars, Mobile Home Destroyed In Fire

According to officials with the NC Forest Service a fire in Duplin county ripped through a junk yard destroying 16 cars and a mobile home Saturday evening.

Officials say they were called out to a junk yard on Chicken Neck Rd. around 5 p.m. Multiple fire departments along with the NC Forest Service responded.

Officials believe the fire was caused by machine use and was an accident.

16 old cars and an unlivable mobile home were destroyed, but officials say they were able to protect two structures valued at $150,000 dollars.

Officials estimate the items that were destroyed were worth around $15,000 dollars.
