NEW INFO: Speeding Car Crashes Into La Grange Church

Three young men were injured after deputies say their fast moving vehicle slammed into a Lenoir County church last night.

The church that was hit is St. James Church of Christ - Disciples of Christ Church on the corner of Queen St. and Hadden St. in La Grange.

Lenoir County deputies say Rasheed Outlaw of La Grange was driving the vehicle that hit the church, while Yasin Boykins and Duane Bright were passengers. Their car was almost completely inside the church.

Major Chris Hill says Outlaw's car was traveling at a high rate of speed and went straight through a curve, went off the side of the road and through the parking lot. He says alcohol is suspected and there is no indication the three were wearing seat belts. All three men had to be freed from the wreckage.

The two passengers were taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital, while the 19-year-old driver was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital where he's in fair condition. Hill says charges may be pending in the crash.

WITN's Chris Jones was on the scene Wednesday morning and described the hole as five to six feet wide and ten to twelve feet tall. The damage to the church was off the parking lot.

Church members are now trying to figure out where they will hold Sunday services.

Sorry anonymous ... but if it makes the news they are not off-limits, especially since it was reported that alcohol was possibly a factor. Now on with the jokes .... This is what happens when you try to straighten a curve.
