100 Companies Registered For Lejeune Job Fair

More than 100 companies will attend a job fair and education expo for Camp Lejeune Marines who are leaving the Corps.

The semiannual event will be held Thursday at two locations: Marston Pavilion for the expo and Goettge Memorial Field House for the job fair.

Organizer Lee Tuthill says 102 companies are registered to attend, compared to 67 companies last year. More than 1,000 troops are expected to attend.

Five large federal agencies will be represented among the booths, along with local and national companies.

Also attending the fair will be three former troops appearing on behalf of the companies that hired them from the military.

Um, ???...the story states that it is Thursday. And it is open to military personnel because that is who these companies are looking to hire. Simple as that.

These companies are making a good decision. Military folks always get their resumes to the top of my pile - they are some of the best employees you can get. Prompt, dedicated, and generally very thorough with what they do.

Sorry SJ, but it is not always the BEST decision to hire the vet. Just look aboard Camp Lejeune with the retired Military that flub up their jobs ... one big prime example recently was the hiring of a retired Navy Captain who belonged to the Chaplain Corps as Director of Deployment Health Services (or whatever they called themselves). This guy had no experience as a mental health care provider - sorry but not all Chaplains are counselors at heart. The CHC is probably the biggest back-stabbers in the Navy. If they can't show compassion among themselves, how in the world can they assist our young troops in need? So in my world I look at the overall qualifications and hire accordingly.

It's not open to everyone because it is a Job Fair put on specifically for those who are getting out of the military so they can obtain employment before they get out and not have to live off of unemployment.
