$10,000 In Damage, Stolen Items At Three Businesses

Thieves targeted three businesses in Pitt County this weekend.

Break-ins were reported at Abbey Full Service Flooring, JP Nail Spa and Yummy Yogurt. The businesses are located on Firetower Road. They have WInterville addresses.

More than $10,000 in items were damaged or taken. The thefts happened late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

Police report the suspect or suspects cased the stores before the crime.

It's believed surveillance video captured the suspect or suspects. We're working to get that and will post it when we do.

lulzsec, This is a brand new shopping center on Firetower in Winterville. How can you write that "the area is not patrolled properly no have any preventive actions been implemented to help decrease the areas crime." Check your facts.

"The Patrol Bureau is responsible for general law enforcement duties and preventative patrol. Uniform Patrol Officers are responsible for the primary response to calls for service, traffic enforcement, preliminary and follow-up investigations, and preventative patrol." Above is an excerpt from GPD's website. pwn..

The area is not patrolled properly nor have any preventive actions been implemented to help decrease the areas crime. The criminals have acknowledged this fact and are exposing it the only way they know how. Do not be angry towards the criminals; direct your anger toward the officers who were sworn in to enforce the law, to serve and to protect, to create a safer community for families. GPD has left their guard down for too long to attempt to turn 180 and be super cops. Welcome to Greenville the new wild west (east).

I live in Greenville and don't even lock my doors at night any longer. Leave my windows open with a b right red "welcome" light illuminating the night! After all, the Police Chief and his city council enablers report crime is down. Who do they really think they're fooling? They are guilty of not acting as this city gets pillaged, and thus they have figurative blood on their hands. Shame on them and on Mr. Bowers too.
