Study: Working More Hours Leads To Depression

Working too many hours could lead to depression, according to a new study out of the United Kingdom.

The report which observed 2,000 civil servants in Britain finds those who work more than 11 hours a day, compared to those working seven to eight hours, are twice as likely to be depressed.

Researchers found the relationship existed even after they accounted for each participant's lifestyle and demographics, which could influence their risk for depression.

They say occasionally working overtime could be beneficial, but making it a long-term habit appears to have a negative impact on mental health.
