A U.S. Senate committee is hearing about the military's attempt to delete information from a report about contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune.

The Senate Judiciary Committee heard from Jerry Ensminger of Elizabethtown, a retired Marine whose 9-year-old daughter died of leukemia in 1985. Ensminger told the committee that information the military wants to delete from a report could mean life or death for contamination victims.

Wells at Camp Lejeune were contaminated by fuel leaks and other sources before tests alerted officials to the problem. Health officials think as many as 1 million people may have been exposed to tainted water before the wells were closed.

Ensminger is testifying about the Marine Corps' request that information about the location of water systems be left out of a federal report.
