Report: Teen Pregnancy Lowest In 40 Years

A new report from the Guttmacher Institute reveals teen pregnancies have reached their lowest level in almost 40 years.

According to the report, 7% of United States teens became pregnant in 2008, A 42% drop from the early 1990's. The report also finds the number of teen births and abortions have declined dramatically.

Although these reductions were across all racial and ethnic groups, researchers say pregnancy rates among black and Hispanic teens are two to three times higher than white teens.

Improved contraception among teens is thought to be responsible for declining pregnancy rates.
