Report: Arsenic In Apple Juice Raises Concern

Another study is looking at the levels of arsenic in apple juice, and the researchers say parents should be concerned.

Consumer Reports released a study Wednesday saying children can be at unnecessary risk due to arsenic and lead in fruit juices.

Consumer Reports tested 88 samples of apple juice and grape juice. They found that 10 percent of the samples had total arsenic levels that exceeded federal drinking-water standards. When it comes to lead, 25 percent of the samples had lead levels higher than the Food and Drug Administration’s bottled-water limit.

Consumer Reports says most of the arsenic found in their tests was inorganic arsenic, which is a known human carcinogen.

A press release from Consumer Reports says the government needs to do more. "Consumers Union, the advocacy arm of Consumer Reports, believes that the federal government should establish a standard of 3 ppb for total arsenic and 5 ppb for lead in juice. In fact, 41 percent of the samples Consumer Reports tested met both thresholds."

Chicken has more arsenic than apple juice (because it's put in their feed): http://nutritionfacts.org/?p=4424 NutritionFacts.org is an excellent, non-commercial source for current research findings.

If you are familir with Dr. Oz, he got in trouble with the FDA announcing this on his show before they acknowledged it.

Fluoride is more poisonous than arsenic, yet it is being intentionally added to our water. Ingesting fluoride does not prevent cavities in any way. When is this going to get real media attention and action?

Cancer is caused from all these growth hormones, pesticides and other additives people are injecting in our food during or after the growth or production process. Is the FDA really doing there job or are there way more cancer causing agents in food than they lead on? Surely all cancer is not from tobacco. Grow your food. Kill your food. Be self sufficient. Your government will not take care of you and your family.

Cancer Nurse I have thought that for the past 20 years. I know there is a cure and it is being kept from us to appease the greedy. Someone needs to expose this farce for what it is so cancer victims can recover.

Haven't toys from China been recalled twice in the last three years because of lead paint? I try not to buy anything from China atleast but it is pretty hard to only buy American made... If I can grow it, I wont buy it. I dont like to use pesticides unless it is organic.

Cancer Nurse makes a lot of sense. I have always thought there was already some cures for cancer. The money that would be lost by hospitals, doctors, and pharmaceuticals from this would be astronomical.....think about it. Scary!

Although Cancer Nurse makes "some" sense, I think it's all just a conspiracy theory. I just don't believe the gov. keeps people sick to bring in more money. That's just proposterous.
