Two people could have been bitten a rabid fox on Wednesday in Carteret County.

A Cedar Point resident says a fox climbed over a chain link fence and attacked his two dogs. The man was bitten on the leg after trying to subdue the animal. The fox was killed and its remains sent off for testing, which came back positive for rabies.

Earlier that day in the same area a woman was also bitten by a fox in her yard. Authorities to not know if it was the same fox that was captured later.

Both people bitten are receiving rabies treatment while the two dogs were up-to-date on their rabies vaccinations.
