A treatment for pinkeye could be right around the corner.
Swedish researchers have developed an experimental eye drop that successfully cured the condition in animal studies with few side effects. It works by preventing the virus from attaching to the eye so it can easily be washed away in tears.
Pinkeye is highly contagious and causes millions of lost school and work days each year.
