Pinkeye Cure In Sight

A treatment for pinkeye could be right around the corner.

Swedish researchers have developed an experimental eye drop that successfully cured the condition in animal studies with few side effects. It works by preventing the virus from attaching to the eye so it can easily be washed away in tears.

Pinkeye is highly contagious and causes millions of lost school and work days each year.

Last time I got Pinkeye (wiped my eye while I was cleaning my bird feeders) the doctor gave me some drops that cleared it up in a day or two. If only THAT drop was an OTC drug. That would be fine with me.

Does not mater how few side effect, but how bad the side effects are. Cancer, death, blindness?

Curious about this too. What side effects? It can't be blindness. Who's going to want to risk permanent blindness just to make pink-eye go away faster?
