Local Pediatrician Honored

A local pediatrician was honored Friday when a health department was renamed after him.

Friday Pitt County Commissioners and local dignitaries unveiled the renaming of the public health department as "Doctor Earl Trevathan Junior Public Health Center."

The pediatric doctor from Greenville started his practice in 1954 on Fifth Street and has dedicated his life to public health for more than 60-years.

Commissioners say Dr. Trevathan dedicated his life to changing the way people are cared for in Pitt County and is the reason they chose to name health department after him.
