Need to go to the doctor but can't afford it? It's a problem many people in the east are facing and that's why one couple decided to do something about it.

After years of finding volunteer medical professionals and getting donations, Christopher and Deborah Battle are opening the Above and Beyond Community Health Clinic in the Martin County town of Robersonville. The clinic is set to open Sunday June 24th. Anyone can come to receive care whether they are insured or not.

"We see a big need here there are a lot of people here who do not have any type of insurance at all. It's a very high unemployment rate. We have kids here that have no health insurance and have health issues going on and having no other means of getting affordable health care anywhere else." said volunteer Erica Armstrong.

The clinic will be open June 24th and every Sunday after that from 2 to 5 pm. They're hoping to add more days and hours as needed.
