FDA Warning: Eye Drops And Nasal Sprays

The Food and Drug Administration is cautioning parents about the dangers of over-the-counter eye drops and nasal decongestant sprays.

The warning comes after identifying 96 cases where children became seriously ill after accidentally ingesting these products. The drops and sprays are sold by various brand names, as well as generics and store brands. They're not required to have child resistant closures.

While no deaths have been reported, more than half of the cases required hospitalization due to nausea, lethargy, or coma.
