FDA Approves New Multiple Sclerosis Drug

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for adults with relapsing forms of Multiple Sclerosis, or MS.

Patients taking the new drug, called Tecfidera, experienced fewer relapses and a delay in progression of the disease. MS is an autoimmune disease that disrupts communication between the brain and other parts of the body.

Patients experience muscle weakness and difficulty with coordination and balance. The symptoms get progressively worse with time, and currently there is no cure.
