East Carolina's School of Dentistry will cater to local students and try to keep graduates local too.
The Dean of ECU's Dentistry School, Doctor James Hupp, spoke about the university's goals at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce power luncheon Tuesday.
The dentistry school will only accept North Carolina residents who are not only interested in receiving a dental medicine degree, but also want to practice in under served areas of the state.
ECU is dealing with a budget crisis, but the university is trying to give the dentistry school enough funding to have a good start up.
Students will attend classes at the Brody School of Medicine until the new building opens in spring of 2012.
