Many children with staph infections bring their germs home, according to researchers at Washington University in Saint Louis.
Researchers there found more than half of family members of children with Staph harbored the bacteria. One out of five had MRSA - a version of Staph that is difficult to treat.
These statistics are significantly higher than the general population. The germs spread easily through contact with household items, researchers said.
Research found that parents were more likely to have MRSA bacteria than siblings.
