RECALL: Various Bagged Salads Due To Salmonella

Taylor Farms Retail Inc. is voluntarily recalling 3,265 cases of various bagged salad blends that have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.

The Salinas, California, company said Wednesday that its action comes after the Washington state Agriculture Department conducted a random test on a finished package of spinach.

No illnesses have been reported.

The bagged salad products include those with "best by" dates ranging from October 18 to 21. They were marketed under the brand names Fresh Selections, HEB, Marketside and Taylor Farms.

The items were distributed and sold in various retail supermarkets in our state along with Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Puerto Rico.

Consumers can call 1(877) 323-7374 for more information.

What, you think non-organic food never gets contaminated? Do you live under a rock?

No more tossing the salad for these bags!

On that note, lets cut funding from the USDA so they can have less oversight of these big farm operations. I am sure that Darwinism will be the best form of regulation.

I never buy pre-cut fruits/veggies. I buy whole and wash them by hand, myself, same day they are purchased. Especially lettuces. I wash each leaf, then place stem-end down in a collander until dry. Then, put into a container/ziplock and refrigerate.

I've never eaten raw veggies. Never will! I hate salad and any uncooked veggies. What am I, a rabbit?

A rabbit is going to live longer and healthier than you are with that attitude. Good luck with that.

Fresh is best, raw is better. Processed kills.

You're not alone. I suffered with salad and have tried to make them taste good but no matter what I put on those leafy greens, it's just nasty to eat. The only ones I can really stomach the taste of is romaine. Everything else is just... ugh.
