Pitt County is working hard to battle the flu in our area, stepping up efforts to get people vaccinated. Monday, North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue was at the Health Department learning about its operations.

Perdue had nothing but good things to say about its methods.

Right now Pitt County's Health Department has 17-thousand doses of flu-mist stored in rented freezers placed in the lobby.

It's part of a campaign to get all students in the area vaccinated.

Perdue says, this is just one example of why Pitt County's Health Department is a great model for others.

The H-1-N-1 vaccine isn't supposed to be ready until October.

When that happens, health officials say they'll try and get those ages 24 and younger vaccinated first, since they're the most vulnerable to the virus.
