Free Dental Clinic To Open

Onslow County will soon have a dental care clinic to help provide beautiful smiles to low income families.

With the help of a $96,000 grant and local dentists -- Onslow Community Ministries will open a free dental clinic in early April.

Onslow County is one of a few counties in the state that doesn't have free dental care.

A local dentist will house the clinic. Initially it will only be open on Fridays.

Sandra Wyrick of Onslow Community Ministries says more than 800 people went to the hospital emergency room with dental problems.

I think this is great if it's used for the needy and not the wanting. There are a lot of people out there that is laid off with one person working in the family, they can't afford insurance so they go with out. I sure hope these are the people it will help.

Lets see how many patients show up driving a new Cadillac, and sporting 2 or 3 cell phones, a couple pounds of gold around thier necks, and a grill in thier mouth. But they cant afford to get thier rotten teeth fixed.
