Decorative Contact Lens May Be Harmful To Your Eyes

As Halloween approaches, the FDA has a warning for those who want to "dress up " their eyes with decorative contact lens.

Eye care professionals say these decorative lenses which give your pupils, the appearance of a vampire or tiger could also cause ulcers and or even blindness. The FDA's concern is these lenses are used without the approval of a licensed optomologist, although recent legislation has made it illegal to market decorative contact lenses as over-the-counter products.

The FDA suggest you get these contacts from a eye professional, so they can properly show you how to care for your eyes.

Actually, the correct spelling for an eye care professional with an MD is ophthalmologist. Please check your spelling "eye care professional".

to the editor - please check your spelling and or wording. Contact lenses of all types can be fitted by an OPTOMETRIST "OD" an Opthamologist is an "MD" who is also capable of caring for lenses but usually is not a retailer, they specialize in medical conditions of the eye.
