Pitt County Wins Grant To Get Fit

The Pitt County Government will soon have $54,000 to spend to help the community "get fit."

The NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund awarded the grant to Pitt County om recognition of its "county-led efforts to promote physical activity and healthy eating programs, policies, environments and lifestyles," according to a press release from Pitt County.

The grant will provide funding for two years. Pitt County officials will spend the money to lengthen the walking trail at the Pitt County District Park, build an interpretive center to promote and advocate for physical activity and healthy eating opportunities, promote a community-wide walking program, and look into expanding and connecting neighborhoods to the Pitt County District Park walking trail.

to Anonymous...explain to me exactly how a COMMUNITY walking trail will only benefit the "rich"..its open to the COMMUNITY not open to the "rich"..read the details before you decide to judge. This is an excellent tool for the county to provide especially with the increase in childhood obesity rates that we see in this day and time.

The only people who will benefit from this are the rich as usual.
