Broccoli may help protect against heart disease.
In lab experiments at the University of Connecticut, researchers gave broccoli extract to rats for one month. Compared to rats that ate a regular diet, those on broccoli had stronger hearts and less heart muscle damage.
Experts say broccoli is chock full of antioxidants, vitamins and heart-healthy fiber.
About 37% of kids in the study had outgrown their egg allergy by age 10.
The study was led by researchers at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry on January 23, 2008.
