Holiday decorations, while beautiful, can be dangerous if you have young children. The American Academy of Pediatrics has a few tips to help keep your family safe:
-Experts recommend only using flame resistant decorations on your tree, and never use lighted candles.
-When using candles around your home, experts say to keep them where they can't be knocked down and away from a child's reach.
-In a home with small children, don't use sharp or breakable ornaments or decorations that look like food or candy.
-After all the festivities are over, get rid of all bags, wrapping paper, ribbons and bows. Also, leaving them around a tree or fireplace can be a potential fire hazard.
There are hundreds of Christmas tree-related fires each year. You can find more information by clicking on the link posted below.
