Report Finds Electronics Are Starting To Interfere With Academics

A new report on the health of college students shows how electronics are taking a toll on academics.

The report from the University of Minnesota surveyed nearly 10 thousand college students, and found nearly 40 percent had suffered academically because of excessive computer, Internet or TV use.

The report also looked at several aspects of overall health. Researchers found close to 70 percent had used alcohol in the past 30 days, and 25 percent had used tobacco.

Close to 40 percent were overweight or obese, and over 25 percent had been diagnosed with a mental illness in their lifetime, which was most often depression or anxiety.
