Island Creek Road Detour Begins In Jones County

The work to replace a bridge in the east means a detour for at least two months for some drivers.

Crews will be shutting down part of Island Creek Road in Jones County, near Pollocksville. the section between Highway 17 and Brices Creek Road will be closed, so drivers will have to follow a lengthy detour through James City.

The DOT says the bridge work should be done and the detour over by August 16th, if the weather cooperates.

The bridge over Island Creek is nearly 40 years old.
