The family of a woman run over and killed last night on U.S. 264 east of Washington says she had multiple sclerosis.

Shakevia Lawson of Grimesland was struck by two vehicles on the busy highway after troopers say she fell in the road.

Lawson's father tells WITN News that his daughter had checked into Vidant Beaufort Hospital Tuesday evening because she was having trouble battling the disease. Family members believe the 22-year-old was likely disoriented and left the hospital on her own.

Troopers do not expect to bring any charges in the accident.

The woman's parents will now have to raise her four-year-old son and one-year-old daughter.
