Woman Convicted Of Firing Gun At Morehead City Mobile Home Park

A woman was sentenced to 17 to 30 months in prison after being convicted of firing a gun into occupied property.

The crime occurred at Wills Mobile Home Park in Morehead City on July 19, 2013.

Brandy Mullins of Tennessee and Scott Jackson were arrested after fleeing North Carolina and heading for Tennessee.

Police say Jackson and the victim, Dennis Rankin, had argued earlier in the day in Atlantic Beach.

Jackson and Mullins later came to the mobile home park on Arendell Street, and after another exchange of words, Mullins fired a .22 caliber pistol into the air, then handed the gun to Jackson with instructions to fire on Rankin.

The bullet missed Rankin but shattered a front door and entered the residence occupied by Rankin's wife and their grandchild.

Jackson is still in the Carteret County Detention Center awaiting trial.
