Washington Manufacturing Plant Closing

Dozens of workers were told today their plant is shutting down in March.

The Weir Oil & Gas manufacturing facility on Old Bath Highway, outside of Washington, will close. The company says 56 employees work at the plant.

Weir says the closing is a result of operational changes due to a prolonged downturn in pressure pumping markets.

The company says it will provide relation packages for other opportunities within the company that are available, while it will offer outplacement support for other workers to find new jobs.
