Washington High School Students Register To Vote

Students at Washington High School in Beaufort County are among the young people registering to vote in their first presidential election.

Members of the Student Government Association at Washington High School are holding a registration drive through Wednesday.

SGA adviser Laura Thompson says this is the second time students have been able to register at school to vote. Thompson says, "With the election coming up it's very important that we help our students understand that part of their civic duty is to vote and have their voice heard. That is a very important opportunity and right we have here in America."

The Beaufort County Board of Elections says during the last presidential election four years ago, Beaufort County saw one of its biggest turnouts, and majority of those were young voters.
