There's a new addition to a memorial on the Morehead City waterfront, and it looks a little unusual.

The statue of Woo Woo Harker has been on the waterfront since 2008. Harker was legend in Morehead City. Fishing was in his blood. And with hard work, he started the Carolina Princess fishing business.

Harker lost his battle with kidney cancer in 2006.

His wife Margaret says the statue gave his memory a view of the waters he knew so well. It's dedicated to all North Carolina watermen and their families. Now the statue is surrounded by a seven-foot iron fence.

Margaret says the fence went up because vandals kept damaging the statue.

Margaret says, "I miss my husband everyday, and to see something like that, well I get pretty emotional at times."

But until police capture the vandals, the statue will remain behind bars.
