Icy conditions and treacherous roads weren't enough to stop mail service in Greenville this week.
Letter carriers took to the streets on their normal routes and made their deliveries as scheduled.
One carrier WITN spoke with says the conditions were worse for him Thursday morning than Wednesday. He cited with thick layers of ice, which made it difficult to get traction.
Letter Carrier Tony Mainolfi said the postal service outfitted their delivery trucks with a special type of tire chain that grips the ice, which allowed the letter carriers to continue working.
Mainolfi said, "A lot of my customers were surprised that we were out Wednesday and they're surprised that we're out today. We have that motto- rain, sleet, snow nor gloom of night we deliver- and that's what we did."
Mainolfi said says conditions have varied tremendously on the roads around town.
