UNC Chapel Hill Students Plan Rally For Student Who Says She Was Raped

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- UNC-Chapel Hill students are planning a rally to support a sophomore charged with violating the school's honor code by speaking out about her allegations of rape.

The rally will be held Friday to support Landen Gambill. The Honor Court accused her last week of creating an intimidating environment for the man she accused of raping her.

Gambill and her supporters have said the private, student-run Honor Court previously found the man not guilty of the accusation.

Under university rules, the court determines whether the honor code has been violated. Students and others can allege the violations that are not criminal charges.

In January, Gambill and four other women filed a complaint against UNC-CH with the federal Education Department about sexual violence on campus. The department hasn't decided whether to investigate.
