It's Official: Two Greenville Country Clubs Merged

The deal for Greenville Country Club to buy Brook Valley Country Club is complete. The paperwork for the deal went through on Sunday.

Officials say both clubs will remain open to its members, but they will save money by having one management team. The new name is the Greenville Golf and Country Club.

Previous Story
After recent negotiations, two of the three country clubs in Greenville have agreed to merge due to economic pressures.

According to an email from the clubs to its members, Greenville Country Club has come to an agreement with Brook Valley Country Club to buy the club and merge it with its own.

The email says both clubs will continue stay open and be available to members but they will be able to save money by having one management team.

In regards to the economic influence in their decision the email says, "Most consultants advise that a town of 100,000 can support one club and Greenville has less than 100,000 and three clubs competing for business. The time is right to take advantage of the economies that are present with the merging of the two clubs."

Greenville is also home to Ironwood Country Club. It is not mentioned in the email about Greenville Country Club buying Brook Valley Country Club.
