Highway Patrol in Lenoir County says two elderly women were airlifted to Vidant in Greenville following a Friday afternoon crash around 3:45 p.m. where the driver may have suffered a medical emergency.
Troopers say the elderly driver was traveling down Highway 11/55 South of Kinston driving 15 miles-per-hour.
Highway Patrol put on blue lights to try and stop the vehicle and they say it sped up to around 55-60 miles-per-hour and crashed into a pickup truck and a limousine.
Troopers believe the elderly driver, who they don't have an exact age for, may have suffered a diabetic emergency. She and and an 88-year-old female passenger were both airlifted to Vidant in Greenville. Troopers say they were in serious condition.
People in the pickup were taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The driver was the only person in the limo and troopers say that individual was fine.
