There are a lot of big sheriff's races on the ballot Tuesday. That includes Hyde County where two deputies are running against each other.
Hyde County Chief Deputy Guire Cahoon and Deputy Shannon Swindell are both running as Democrats. Cahoon has been with the department since 2007 and Swindell has nearly six years of service.
Both men are Hyde County natives and say they know what it takes to be an effective sheriff.
"I feel like that I can serve them to the best of my ability with fairness and quality and integrity," says Cahoon.
Swindell says, ""It boils down to class, clarity, and vision. I know where we are. I know where we need to be, and it's a very simple plan to get there."
There are no Republican candidates in Tuesday's race, so the winner will become the new sheriff.
