NEW INFO: Train Hits Truck At Beaufort County Crossing

The driver of a pick-up truck is lucky after his vehicle was hit by a train this afternoon in Beaufort County.

It happened around 3:10 p.m. at a private crossing that goes into Kemp Recyclers. The business is on Highway 17, south of Chocowinity.

Authorities say the driver apparently pulled across the tracks, not realizing the northbound Norfolk Southern freight train was approaching.

Troopers charges Bobby Woolard, Jr. with making an unsafe movement.

Woolard was not hurt, while his truck was damaged on the driver's side rear quarter panel.
