Update: Traffic Flowing Again After Tractor Trailer Accident in Lenoir County

The Highway Patrol says the roadway has been cleared after a tractor trailer accident Friday afternoon.

The accident caused delays along Highway 11 and U.S. 70 just after 12:00 Friday for less than 30 minutes according to Trooper Bud Radford from Lenoir county. He says traffic was detoured as they investigated and took care of the drivers involved in the crash.

Trooper Radford says the driver of the 18-wheeler, Artemio Martinez of Wilson, was driving on U.S. 70 and went through a red light.

When the light turned green for Highway 11 drivers, Janice Hill from Deep Run, turned left striking the 18-wheeler near the driver's side door then spun out of control and struck the back of the trailer as well.

She was transported to Lenoir Memorial Hospital with what appears to be non life-threatening injuries.

Martinez has been charged with running a red light.
