A woman was flown to Vidant Medical Center after an accident just before noon outside of New Bern.

State troopers say the crash happened at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Airport Road in James City.

They say Judy Perez of New Bern was sitting at the stop light on Airport Road and started to go through the intersection when the light turned green. The Highway Patrol says Paul Jambor, 75, of New Bern was heading east on U.S. 70 in a truck and ran the red light. The truck t-boned the woman's car which then overturned.

After hitting the woman's vehicle, troopers say the truck went through the median and sideswiped a car driven by 88-year-old John Young of Beaufort.

Troopers have charged Jambor with running a red light. The other driver was not injured in the crash.
