Three Seriously Injured In Martin County Accident

Three people were taken to Vidant Medical Center with serious injuries after a crash Wednesday afternoon in Martin County.

The Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 4:00 p.m. on U.S. 64 near Robersonville.

Troopers say a car was heading west toward Tarboro when the vehicle ran off the road, hit a sign, and a cable barrier. The car then flipped several times.

The driver and two people inside were seriously injured and taken to the hospital in Greenville.

U.S. 64 eastbound was shut down for about an hour because of emergency vehicles on the highway.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
