Authorities say a grandfather, his grandson and his son-in-law are dead, and three deputies injured in a shootout this morning outside of Fayetteville.

Cumberland County deputies were called to a domestic dispute around 7 a.m. Wednesday. Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the dispute involved a man, his father-in-law and that man's grandson.

Sheriff Moose Butler says Andrew Michaelis drove by the father-in-law's home and fired 30 rounds from a high-powered automatic rifle. Butler says the father-in-law and his 10-year-old grandson were killed inside the home.

After deputies arrived, Butler says Michaelis came back. As deputies were inside investigating, the sheriff says Michaelis fired 30 more shots from the AR-15 into the home, wounding one deputy.

The gunman ran from the home, and exchanged gunfire with officers. Two deputies were injured, while Michaelis was shot and killed.

Butler says they found 50 to 60 rounds of ammunition left in the man's truck.
