Lawmen: Suspects Smoked Meth With 2-Year-Old In Car

Three people are in jail on multiple drug charges after authorities say they were smoking methamphetamine in a vehicle with a two-year-old inside.

Jerry and Heath Coffield and Chelsea Pelletier are all facing multiple meth charges.

Officers pulled over the Coffields vehicle on U.S. 258 near the 64 bypass in Edgecombe County and found the drugs and evidence meth had been smoked in the vehicle.

Authorities also found a meth lab in a horse barn on the Coffields property in Tarboro. They say this is the county's first ever Methamphetamine Lab seizure.

The 2-year-old has been placed in protective custody.

Child endangerment charges are pending.
