Three Arrested On Drug Charges In Beaufort County

Government statistics show more than twice as many people died from overdosing on pain pills in 2008 than they did from cocaine and heroin combined, and three more locals are under arrest for crimes involving these addictive drugs.

Thirty-six-year-old Anna Foster of Washington is facing three counts of trafficking in opium, while 22-year-old Joseph Foster of Belhaven and 19-year-old Jessica Cartwright of Washington each face two counts of the same charge.

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says Anna Foster has been selling her prescribed oxycodone pills, and saw her meet with the two other suspects. A search found 99 oxycodone pills in the car with Joseph Foster and Cartwright, and 47 pills in a bottle with Anna Foster.

All three are being held under $10,000 bonds.
