Tax-Free Weekend Ends Sunday, Done In By NC Tax Overhaul

The Tax-Free Holiday in North Carolina ends Sunday, and it’s gone for the foreseeable future.

The tax reform bill signed by Governor Pat McCrory in late June took with it the weekend that lawmakers say is responsible for around $13.6 million in lost tax revenue the same time in 2012.
Still, the shoppers who look forward to big back to school bargains are sad to see it go.

“I'm really upset about it because I love going shopping on tax free weekend; I save all my shopping for tax free weekend so it's a disappointment,” said Faison Powers who was shopping in Greenville.

Some shoppers say they find themselves spending 2 to 3 hundred dollars on goods, which they say equates to worthwhile savings they're going to miss next year.
