A South Florida high school senior with cerebral palsy was crowned homecoming king over the weekend. "Homecoming king is Hakam. I had no words to describe, I was so happy." He also had a surprise for the crowd. He crossed the football field with the help of caregivers, walking publicly for the very first time. Despite all his challenges, Hakam remains positive and always has a big smile on his face.
"He's a great guy, he deserves this more than anybody I know. I'm so proud."

India is celebrating Diwali, a five-day "Festival of Lights." Markets and temples are decorated with candles and lamps, as the faithful worship the goddess Laxmi. Colored sand is used to make floor decorations meant to welcome guests, and encourage Laxmi to come inside.
On the eve of the celebration, Indian leaders said they hoped this year's festival would "mark the beginning of a new phase of optimism" there.

Two finless porpoises somehow found their way into a canal at a fish breeding farm in China. A local resident alerted authorities. Finless porpoises are endangered and state-protected. The stranded animals were released back into the Yellow Sea.
