TROOPERS: Woman Hits Patrol Car, Charged With DWI

First Sergeant Jerry Burton said a 24-year-old from La Grange has been charged with hitting a trooper's vehicle, pushing into the car he had originally stopped.

Trooper C.A. Cook, who has been on the patrol for four years, stopped a vehicle on Highway 70, west of Goldsboro shortly before 1PM on Thursday. Investigators said 24-year old Amber Cook (no relation to the trooper) hit the trooper's vehicle from behind as she was driving west on Highway 70. Burton said once Cook hit the trooper's vehicle, that pushed the patrol car into the vehicle he had originally stopped for speeding.

Trooper Cook was transported to a local hospital for treatment, then released. Amber Cook was also transported to a local hospital where she is to remain overnight for observation.

Troopers said the driver, Cook, will be charged with driving while impaired, driving with a revoked license, failure to move over, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
