Troopers say a woman likely took a curve too fast on Wednesday night, hit a tree, and was killed as a result of the wreck.
Sergeant Gary Weaver with the Highway Patrol said 49-year-old Elizabeth Davis of Greenville was driving north on Briley Road near Hardy Road around 7:14 Wednesday night.
Investigators said the woman was likely going 65 miles per hour when she took a sharp curve in the road, ran off to the right, and hit a tree.
Troopers said Davis was in very serious condition at the scene of the wreck but died shortly thereafter.
Investigators said Davis was wearing her seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in this case.
