Troopers in Onslow County are looking for a driver who they said hit a power pole early Wednesday morning, then took off on foot.

Trooper Sean Spring said at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, he was called to a wreck along King Road, near Holly Shelter Road, after a neighbor heard a loud commotion and saw the scene of a wreck nearby.

Tpr. Spring said he arrived to find a 2013 Toyota smashed against a power pole, but no driver in the vehicle.

Investigators determined the vehicle came off the curve to the left, hitting a mailbox, a ditch, a culvert, and ultimately the power pole.

Troopers said they are now looking for the driver of that vehicle. They know it is owned by 20-year-old Paul Wrick, who has an address listed in Jacksonville.

"I'm not going to talk about charges right now," said Trp. Spring. "Hopefully this driver will get medical attention if necessary, and turn himself in."

Damages are estimated at nearly $11,000. Troopers said the vehicle was totaled and the power pole split at the top.

No one in the area lost power due to the wreck.
